Who we are

Mountain Lodge Ciurnadù family hotel Alta Badia

Our Story

Ciornadú is documented for the first time in the land register of Castel Badia (1296) under the name Zyradas (small property).

In 1631 the written form Zernadoi was attested. The term Ciornadú is still in use today in all the Ladin valleys to describe the place where the cattle are sorted (from the Latin cernere). In the past, in Ciornadú, the shepherd waited for the sheep to come back from the pastures of Rit, and these would then be sorted where the farm is located today.

In 1971 Alex’s parents – the current owner – built their house which, shortly after, was transformed into a small hotel with 6 rooms. Recently, the property has undergone two expansions: the first in 2000 and the second in 2019, which added the panoramic dining room and the spa. Currently, the hotel is still run by the Rubatscher family: Rita at the reception, Alex and Luca in the kitchen, Matteo in the dining room, the wellness area and on the farm.
